Peachy Keen Pink & Green Mother's Day Card

Good evening, everyone. Hope everyone has their anti-virus software up to date. They say a "worm" is coming out on April Fool's day that can access all our personal financial information on our computers. Could be an AF's day hoax, but you never know. This is one of the card's I'll be teaching at the workshop in May. Wish you could see the dimension...it looks flat on the computer screen. I used a punch in 2 different sizes for the flower, which I cut out in white and inked in pink. A Fiskars corner punch was used for the flower cutouts on the corners, and a Martha Stewart scalloped edge punch for the green and white "lace". The striped paper is from American Traditionals Designs and I used Bazzill cardstock. You know how I love pink and green! Hope the class likes it too. Have a good AF's day and try not to pull too many pranks! And don't forget...Beware of the "worm"!

Blessings! ~M~

Reach for the Stars Graduation card

Hi, here is a graduation card I made last week using the Cricut Birthdays and Beyond cartridge. I really like the contrast of the black, white and beige cardstock. I'm working on a Father's Day card right now that's really giving me problems. Masculine cards are so hard to design, and I'm trying to get the colors right on this one and also give it some texture. I'm even using my crimper! Haven't done that in awhile. Have a good night!
Blessings, ~M~

Flowers & Swirls Mother's Day Card

Good morning! Hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was busy, but I did manage to sneak in a nap on Sunday afternoon. It was rainy, windy and cold...perfect sleeping weather. Of course, then I wasn't sleepy when it was time to go to bed, so I stayed up and made another Mother's Day card. Love the blue and black together. Have a good Monday!
Blessings, ~M~

Just Dotty Thinking of You card

Hi, can't stay on here long...we're having a thunderstorm. While DH was watching a very sad, depressing movie tonight, I made a happy, cheerful card. LOL! I'll never understand his taste in movies. Guess it's just a man thing. Anyway, here's the card. The cute red and white polka dotted paper was downloaded from Crafter's Kitchen. I used one of my old EK Success flower punches and cut the flowers out of the same polka dotted paper. The red gingham paper is from Paper Loft. Fun to make!
Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

Blessings! ~M~

Rose Mother's Day Card

Hi, can't sleep...too much coffee at dinner. I decided to make a Mother's Day card so I could try out my new Martha Stewart scallop edge lace punch. I love it! It makes the card look so dainty and feminine. I downloaded the beautiful rose image from Crafters Kitchen. The little pearls are from Martha Stewart's wedding embellishments. This could also be used for as a birthday card.
I'm off to make more cards. Have a good night!
Blessings! ~M~

Elegant Anniversary Card

Good morning! It's been a long, busy week and I'm ready for the weekend. TGIF! My in-laws are having their 64th anniversary in about 2 weeks, so I went ahead and made their card. The elegant black and white background paper was downloaded from Crafters Kitchen. Sixty-four years of marriage is quite a milestone. I hope my honey and I live to see our 64th and beyond! We will celebrate our 43rd anniversary in December. It goes so fast!

We went to our DS's house last night for our youngest granddaughter's 2nd birthday. She is so stinkin' cute! Yes, I am prejudiced, but she REALLY is adorable. Can't believe she's 2! It goes so fast! Do you see a theme here? Life comes and goes in the blink of an eye, so we should live it to it's fullest, and thank God everyday for all our many blessings! I'm feeling very blessed today, for my wonderful husband, children and grandchildren. Enjoy your day!

Blessings! ~M~

Toilet Paper Roll Mini Album

I'm so excited about this little album! It's so stinkin' cute, I can't stand it. It's made from toilet paper rolls and bits of ribbon and paper scraps. Scrapbooking and recycling at the same time... I love it! You need at least 3 toilet paper rolls. Flatten each one and cover with paper. Punch 2 holes for binder rings, in the end of each flattened roll. Put an eyelet in each hole and flatten with a crop-a-dile or eyelet setting tool. Put all three (or more) rolls on binder rings and close. Tie ribbons on each binder ring. Cut a tag approximately 2 1/2" x 4" for each roll. Put an eyelet with ribbon or staple a ribbon pull on each tag. Embellish tags and album pages (tp rolls) with photos, quotes, etc. Insert a tag in each pocket that was created by the flattened roll and there you have it! An adorable little album to keep or give as a gift, made from toilet paper rolls! So far, I've embellished the front of mine with a paper flower that I punched out of a coffee filter and then inked pink. I also had the "Live, Laugh, Love" chipboard piece that I put on the front. This was so much fun to make, that I want to make more. The problem is, there are only 2 of us and we don't use toilet paper fast enough for me to make another album for awhile! LOL!
Blessings! ~M~

Candy Wrapper

Hi guys, I'm up late again with a sinus headache. Getting ready to take some aspirins and try to go to sleep. I didn't get to post the picture of DH's St. Patrick's day gift. It's a Kit Kat candy bar inside the cutest wrapper. I've seen these on a couple of other blogs, and thought I'd make one and see how it turned out. It was so easy, turned out really cute and DH loved his little candy surprise. He didn't want to open it and spoil the paper...LOL!

Blessings! ~M~

Senior Moment Save

Good morning! My good, 'ole bread machine saved the day and the bread turned just as good as it always does. It's half gone now, so I'll be making some more tomorrow. There's nothing like the smell and taste of fresh baked bread! Been busy working on spring cleaning, catching up on laundry and coming up with card ideas for the workshop in May. I've got a graduation card made and have started on the kits. It takes a lot of time to cut out and put together kits for 20 people. I love doing it though. Got to get to work and get payroll done for everyone (including me!). It's almost Friday...Yea! Bye, ~M~

Senior Moment Bread

Good morning and happy St. Patrick's Day! This morning I needed to make bread, and got everything ready to make my favorite, honey whole wheat. I make other kinds too, but I always go back to this recipe. It makes a nice big, soft loaf, and I think whole wheat is better for you than white bread. Anyway, I measured all my ingredients, put them in the bread pan in the correct order, punched in 1.5 pound loaf, loaf color, and hit start. Started cleaning up and thinking, in about 3 hours we'll have some delicious bread. I noticed the bread machine sounded different, kinda quiet. My first thought was, something must be wrong with my bread machine! Oh, no! I looked inside, and nothing was happening. It wasn't mixing. I turned to get the machine manual to see if I could figure out what was wrong, and there was the paddle, lying on the counter! DUH! Can't mix bread dough without the paddle, Mary! I hit stop, dumped everything into a bowl, put in the paddle, and then put all the ingredients back in. Don't know if it will turn out or not, but if it does, my favorite honey whole wheat, from this day forward, will be called Senior Moment bread! Happy baking, everyone! ~M~

Honey Whole Wheat Bread (aka Senior Moment Bread)

2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
1 2/3 cups bread flour
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
4 tsps vital wheat gluten
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 tablespoons honey
1 1/4 cups warm water

Add all ingredients in order suggested by your bread machine manual and process on the basic bread cycle.

4x4 Tag Album

Hi, it's a rainy Saturday afternoon and I just finished this little 4x4 mini tag album. Had this one piece of Cloud 9 cardstock left and it just seemed to be the perfect paper for this album. As you can see, I'm still in my pink and green phase. It was really simple to make and took about 45 minutes, with measuring, inking and figuring out as I went. Don't know who I'm going to give it to, but now I have a little gift ready for someone. Got an email from the library, and I've been asked to do another card workshop! This one will be on "Moms, Dads and Grads". It will be in early May, so that gives me time to come up with some ideas for what we'll be making. I'm already excited! Time to get ready for church. Bye! ~M~

Easter card

Good morning! It's surprising that I don't feel all that bad after getting so little sleep last night. Made another card...also in pink and green. I really like pink and green together for spring cards. It's like the promise of green leaves and pink blossoms after all the snow and slush of this winter. Have a good day, everyone! ~M~

Card for Spring

Good morning, all. Yesterday's weather improved and we had a beautiful sunshiny day. Today is starting out just like yesterday, grey and gloomy. Let's hope it gets better later. I know Spring will be here soon...March 20th on the calendar. Here's a little bunny card which could do double duty also, as an Easter card. Hope Tuesday's good to you! ~M~

Monday, again

Hi, it's a grey, gloomy, windy day outside. It is however, going to be 65 degrees today, so I can't complain about that. I'm just tired and grumpy today. I'm trying to make myself do as my "quote of the day" says, "sing anyway". I'm almost done with the mini-album and have cried through most of it. Looking at my sisters, brother and my parents, who have both passed away, has been very hard. I'm going to love having the mini-album though. Whenever I start really missing them, I can take it out and look at them and remember how much I love them all and how much fun we all had growing up together .
I was finally able to get Sophie to be still for 5 seconds so I could take a couple of pictures. I need to get her album up to date. She's such a wonderful little dog and such a good little friend. Can you tell, I kinda love her! Have a good Monday, everyone. ~M~

Sophie's album

Good morning or afternoon, I'm not sure which. We're back to Daylight Saving Time, so we lost an hour of sleep. Here are a few pages from an album I started for Sophie when she was just a few months old. Wasn't she adorable? I've got to put some more pages in it now that she's an old lady of two and a half!
Have a blessed Sunday!

St. Patrick's Day card

Morning! Hope everyone is having a good day. Finally got around to making a quick, simple gate-fold card for St. Patrick's day. I'm having to scan everything into the blog, as my digital camera has a dead battery. At least I hope it's just a dead battery and not something major wrong with it. I put in a new battery and it's still not charged yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's ok. It's been a really good camera until now, and I've loved the great pictures it takes. Anyway, the colors on the scans don't come out just right, but I guess green is green. TGIF

Cricut birthday card

Hi guys! Kinda cloudy today but it's supposed to be a little warmer, I think. Come on spring!

My youngest granddaughter has a birthday this month, and I went ahead and made her card. The cupcake was cut from the Cricut Wild Card cartridge. Still working on my mini-album, so I haven't gotten to the St. Patrick's day cards yet, but I'll be finished with the album soon. I'm loving how it's turning out. If anyone has any comments about my cards (love 'em or hate 'em) or anything else, please speak up. I work in an office where I'm the only woman, and I'd love it if you'd just say hi. It gets kind of lonely in this silent blogosphere. Have a good Thursday!

Bunny Feet Card

I waited up for DH to get home from his business trip, and he didn't get home until 2 am! He is beat, but had to go back again today. The job is about 4 hours away in the western part of the state, but we're hoping he'll get done earlier today and get back home and get some much needed rest. Don't know how he's functioning...I'm like a zombie!

Here's an Easter card I made a while back. Easter will be here before we know it. I'm planning to make some candy boxes for the grandkids Easter candy this year. Last year I made little Easter baskets with my Cricut. I had just gotten it, and was thrilled with what it could cut out. I'm almost finished with my mini-album and then plan to make a few St. Patrick's Day cards to post. Have a great day everyone!

Mini-album

Good morning! The sun is shining brightly, but it's still freezing cold outside. I can hardly wait for Spring to get here. DH is out of town for the day on a job, so I've been working on a mini-album. I'll still have to go to work later, but I was able to get a lot done on it. I couldn't sleep the other night, and was going to get up and make a card, but it turned into the album instead. I worked on putting it together until 3 am that night. Last night I couldn't sleep again, but made myself stay in bed and plan how I wanted to embellish my album. This morning I started on it and I'm really liking how it's turning out. I'm going to put pictures of myself, my brother and sisters in it, from when we were very young. Here's what I've gotten done so far...the cover and the first 2 pages. I really like the brown, pink and green together and I've almost used up my brown ink pad, giving it that "shabby-chic" look. And of course, I used my Cricut to cut out my flower, scalloped circles and initial for my cover. Don't know how I ever made a card or did a scrapbook page before I got my Cricut!
Got to go to work now...have a good day, everyone!

Cricut Cards

Here are a couple of cards and matching envelopes I made using the Wild Card cartridge. Love my Cricut. I even used it yesterday to cut out "happy birthday" for the top of DH's cake.

It's GONE!

Thanks to my DDIL, the busy background is gone! She really knows her way around a computer. DD is also very computer savvy. Wish I knew how to do even half of what they do.
Not likely that will ever happen!

Frustrated!

I DO NOT like this background at all and can't figure out how to change it back to just plain, old blue. We had DH's family birthday party yesterday and I asked DDIL, who has a great blog, how to change a few things on my blog. I picked this background, not really being able to see how busy it was, and she showed me how to make the change. When I actually saw it on here, I knew it wasn't going to work, but figured I could change it later. Problem is, I can't remember how we did it! I know and understand just enough about all this to get myself into trouble. I'm afraid if I keep fooling around with things, I'll end up with a real mess and have to start all over with a new blog, and I sure don't want to do that! So, for now, please be patient with this busy background until I can get it fixed. Sigh!
